Taking Managed Print Services to the Bank: Xerox to Manage Print Operations for Huntington
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) will manage Huntington National Bank’s print infrastructure, delivering significant cost savings to the Midwestern regional bank. Using a
managed print services (MPS) strategy, Xerox will help Huntington better control the way documents are printed, shared and updated at the bank’s headquarters and across more than 600 branch locations.
The five-year
Enterprise Print Services (EPS) contract will bring multiple print budgets and output devices, like printers, copiers and fax machines under Xerox management. Huntington will also meet its sustainability goals by decreasing the number of printers and educating employees on responsible printing. The bank has already seen a 35 percent drop in toner usage, as well as reduced paper and power consumption.
“We signed on for
MPS for the cost savings opportunity and to help the environment, but working with Xerox is also a smart business strategy for us. By improving the way we work, they help us stay competitive,” said Zahid Afzal, executive vice president and chief information officer, Huntington Bank.
Using
Lean Six Sigma-based methodology, Huntington and Xerox evaluated bank employees’ daily work habits and designed a print environment that helps them work more efficiently. Xerox’s pre-emptive servicing of equipment will help employees stay productive throughout the day.
Huntington also plans to roll out Xerox
EPS to its virtual workforce. Employees working from home or remote locations will benefit from the same support system offered in the office, and universal drivers give mobile workers easy access to print output devices when visiting corporate offices.
“Financial institutions are discovering the business benefits of strategically managing the print infrastructure,” said
John Kelly, president,
Xerox Global Services North America. “With MPS, they’re not only cutting costs, they are building an infrastructure that will transform the way business is conducted.”
