ACS, A Xerox Company, Unveils Enterprise Cloud Solution to Provide Clients with Better Control and Business Agility
Next Generation Offering Features a Multi-Customer Cloud Environment
DALLAS
–
Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS), A Xerox Company (NYSE: XRX), today launched the next generation of cloud computing by blending components of the private and public cloud to offer clients a service with enterprise-class security, reliability and compliance requirements.
The ACS Enterprise Cloud is an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering that is integrated into the company’s ITIL-compliant
ACS Management Platform in a multi-customer cloud environment. This new service offers cloud capabilities through an on-demand model to support the rapid deployment of standardized business applications.
With this solution, clients benefit from the ability to purchase cloud computing capabilities on a flexible model – with as much or as little service to meet their particular business demands, said
Ken Stephens, senior vice president of global strategy and service management for ACS.
“This service takes the fog out of cloud computing,” said Stephens. “They will know exactly what they are purchasing, when they are buying it and how much it is costing them. In today’s challenging economic times, enterprises are increasingly demanding
IT services that provide more flexibility and business agility as well as deliver significant cost savings.
He said with the Enterprise Cloud solution, ACS can help clients create their own roadmap to a secure, cloud computing environment without the upfront expenditures and with giving control of their business. This new business model is consistent with the approach Xerox and ACS are bringing to the market to help businesses focus on their core competencies.
ACS designed its cloud solution with key partners utilizing their certified Vblock Infrastructure Package recently announced by the Virtual Computing Environment coalition (VCE), which was formed by
Cisco and
EMC together with
VMware.
“By choosing to utilize a Vblock Infrastructure Package to enable its Enterprise Cloud solution, ACS will accelerate the creation and consumption of innovative, cost-effective and reliable cloud computing environments for its clients,” said Manjula Talreja, vice president, Virtual Computing Environment coalition at Cisco.
ACS’ Enterprise Cloud solution extends the ACS Management Platform (AMP v1.0) – delivered through a partnership with Novell utilizing its Intelligent Workload Management solutions – by adding cloud-centered functionality such as self-service provisioning, role-based access controls, automated OS and middleware configuration.
