The State of Florida Moves to Single Email System; Service from ACS, A Xerox Company, Delivers Savings, Efficiency
DALLAS – The state of Florida is projected to save up to $15 million and streamline its communications systems with a statewide
email service provided by
ACS, A Xerox Company (NYSE: XRX).
For the first time, all Florida state agencies will use the same email system, eliminating 30 separate systems. It is also the first statewide private cloud email solution using Microsoft Exchange 2010, which has the security to be compliant with HIPAA and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) standards and the scalability so the state can make the solution available to local government agencies.
“We are identifying and eliminating the waste and operational barriers that result when government agencies don’t work together effectively,” said David Taylor, chief information officer, state of Florida. “A single, standardized email system provides the foundation for a more efficient, service-oriented state government; one that provides improved services, greater transparency and lower costs to citizens.”
ACS is helping the state and its employees by migrating them to the new system and will support ongoing operations including archiving, e-discovery, support for mobile devices, security management and disaster recovery.
“We’re confident our partnership with the state of Florida will create one of the nation’s most modern consolidated email solutions,” said
Joseph Doherty, executive vice president and chief operating officer,
ACS Government Solutions. “This is another example of how we can help government agencies become more efficient and improve service.”
